How to Paint Your Own Pottery

Choose a piece of unfinished pottery (bisque) from our shelves. We have over 1,500 pieces of pottery so you may find it hard to decide which one you want to paint first! Don't worry though- you don't have to paint just one- you can stay all day and paint as many as you'd like!
decide on a design
We have a lot, and we mean A LOT of idea books, painted samples to copy, and pattern technique sheets with easy step by step instruction for you to follow so you don't have to come up with an idea from scratch, unless you want to of course. We also have many design tools available for your use such as stencils, stamps, sponges as well as a few other "secrets up our sleeve" professional design materials that will help you easily create some elaborate designs that once fired, may have people saying -Wow! You made that? And last but not least, is our friendly professional staff who are always on hand to help guide you in creating the look you want.
select your glaze colors
You have unlimited use of over 100 colors to choose from including all our regular glazes, speckled glazes, and many specialty glazes which create a cool "high fired ceramics" look. We also give you unlimited use of other painting supplies including, drawing tools, tape rolls, tape shapes, and glaze writer tip bottles to make fine detail decorating easy breezy!
have a creative blast painting your pottery
Relax and take your time, you'll find that painting pottery is an artistic activity that's therapy for your soul! Feel free to bring snacks and beverages (BYOB for 21+) with you to paint... and then paint another piece if you'd like-there's no limit. Feel free to make a creative mess, we'll do all the clean up. Once you are finished, leave your piece with us and we will glaze and fire it for you. Your pottery will be ready for pick up in one week. We also offer complimentary express firing if you really need your finished piece in as few as 3 days -available by request only when the firing schedule and the kiln gods are in our favor.
Pricing
pottery + paint time = total
Pottery shapes start at just $3 and up with the majority of our pieces averaging between $18 and $29.
The cost to paint is the price of the pottery piece you select plus a paint time fee that covers the paints, glazing, firing, use of the studio and our staff design assistance. The paint time fee per painter is $4 per half hour and we have a maximum daily paint time fee of $10 for Unlimited Paint Time all day so you can stay as long as you want and paint as many pieces as you want - take your time and enjoy, you'll never pay more than $10 plus your pottery cost per visit!
Paint time doesn’t start until you start- so feel free to browse, sit down and plan out your design and ask for any instructional help if needed- we keep track of your paint time for you once you start using our expendable materials or start painting.

Walk-in painters are always welcome as seating allows but please connect with us about setting up a reservation for groups of 10 or more people or for specific Pottery Piazza Events where reservations are recommended.
