Clay Workshop | Pressed Leaf Dishes

Let’s play with dirt and leaves! Join us for this clay workshop where you will make two dishes by pressing and rolling real leaves in clay! Bring your own leaves (the bigger the better- we like giant maples and squash leaves the best but many small leaves can work together too) or you can pick from a selection of leaves we will hand pick and provide at the event. We will have generic disposable paper bowls to help shape your clay dish, but we suggest bringing bowls of your own (plastic preferably) if you want to shape it a certain way (we used two different bowls of our own to shape ours- one narrow and deep to make a bowl shape and one wide and shallow to make a dish shape, both about 8” in diameter). If you bring your own bowls, you’ll need to leave them with us so your clay can dry in shape. We will hold them for you until you come back to paint your leaves. Once the clay leaves dry, we will fire them in our kiln to white bisque and you can come back at your leisure during walk-in paint time to glaze them and have them fired. Pieces will be ready for final pick up a week after that.

Class is just $39 plus tax all inclusive, covers your clay, class time, materials, instruction, and the painting, glazing and firing on your second visit. Feel free to bring snacks, beverages and invite your friends! No experience or artistic talent needed- our staff walks you through the class step by step with lots of design tricks to get great results! Advanced registration required.
