2-Hour Beginner/ Try It Out | Basic Wheel Throwing Class | Private Session for 1-5 People.

Single class wheel session with a second visit at your leisure required to glaze your pottery.

Receive personalized one-on-one instruction from our wheel instructors and spend more quality time working on specific aspects of wheel throwing. Alternately, for couples, you can make this private class a fun and creative date out of it -like in the movie "Ghost"!

Private Sessions are available for a single person, a couple, or groups of up to 5 people with one of our instructors. Lessons are 2 hours in length and are $195* for a single person, $220* for a couple, $237* for 3 people, $316* for 4 people, and $395* for 5 people. Private Session include everything in the 2-hour basic wheel class as mentioned below.

Basic Wheel Classes include 30 minutes of beginner hands-on demonstration/instruction and centering clay on the wheel, approximately 1-hour of supervised wheel time with basic instruction to form approximately 3 pieces: simple vessels out of clay (bowl/cup) and/or a small plate (if time permits) that we will fire to bisque, and 15 minutes of active clean up. We will also spend a few minutes discussing the processes of firing and glazing stoneware pottery (so you are prepared when you come back and glaze your piece after we’ve fired it to bisque in about 10-14 days).  You must come back within 30 days on your own time to glaze your piece(s) so we may complete the final firing and have them ready for pick up approximately 2 weeks later. The progression of class can vary depending on number in attendance, attention, ability, and how each student progresses during the class. Your wheel instructor will guide each group individually based on you and your guests grasping the concepts being taught. It’s possible if class progresses faster, there may be an opportunity to throw more pottery pieces on the wheel or develop better throwing skills as well as access to our stamping tools at no additional charge. It all depends on the pace of the group as a whole.

*Additional Cost: When you come back to glaze your fired pieces, paint time at our regular rates of $4 per half hour, up to $10 for unlimited paint time for the day will apply and you have full use of our stoneware glazes and any other compatible glazes that are normally included in our paint time rates for each student.

*3 Person+ Private Group Special: A group booking a minimum of 3 seats for this class at once will receive 1 FREE UNLIMITED PAINT TIME SESSION CARD per person (valued at $10 each) upon arrival to class and can be applied towards the paint time fees to glaze and fire your pottery as mentioned above.

Policies: Please read our wheel throwing policies that apply to your class sign up here. Additional policies that are temporary and specific to COVID-19 are added below. By signing up for a wheel throwing class or course, you are agreeing to abide by all the policies stated.

Private classes are for anyone age 10 & up.  Children less than 10 years of age require a parent or guardian to also participate and purchase a class session for themselves. We generally do not recommend wheel throwing for children under 8 years of age because of the hand/motor coordination and strength needed to throw on the wheel. 

COVID-19 UPDATE TO OUR WHEEL AND BOOKING POLICIES:

• If your or someone in your group is feeling ill for any reason, please contact us up to 4 hours prior to your session time and we will be happy to postpone and reschedule class at your convenience and at a mutually agreeable date and time at no additional charge. If you cancel with less than 4 hours’ notice, there will be a $10 reschedule fee per class participant (or $30 max.) as our wheel staff has already been scheduled and prepared to work that day.

• Private Groups with partial cancels (ie- less than full attendance but at least 1 person still attending): There is no reschedule fee and we will refund the difference paid in the form with which it was paid from the original Private Session booking to the regular cost of either the 1 Person, 2 Person, or 3-4 person Private Session rates. If the person(s) who is missing class would like to re-book, they would need to book a new, regular private session for themselves for between 1 and 5 people at the regular posted price for those sessions.

• Once a Private Session is booked, there are no refunds for cancellations as we have blocked off the ability for other customers to access and book the wheel area during that time and have scheduled our wheel staff specifically to be present and available for your particular session. If you need to change your booking at any time, please contact us at 860-517-8553 immediately and we will be happy to assist you and get you set up with a new date and time. We allow for one session date change/re-booked within 60 days of the original date.
